Located in the central highlands of Kenya and considered the bountiful and fertile breadbasket of Kenya and a gateway to Kenya’s northern frontier. Laikipia lies below Aberdare and Mount Kenya National Parks at the headwaters of Ewaso Nyiro Ecosystem, with a diversity of altitudes, habitats makes this area a prime game viewing area, consisting of large mammals. Segera, occupies a prime location in the center of Laikipia Plateau, consisting of the dry savannah which comprise of acacia grassland and open wood land and wetlands. Key mammal species include the elephant, lions, leopard, wild dog, buffalo, eland, giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, beisa oryx, Elwell’s hartebeest and a variety of bird species such as ostrich, martial eagle, rosy perched bush-shrike. Samburu, Buffalo Springs and Shaba are a natural complement to Laikipia. Known for specialised Maasai biome species like reticulated giraffe and ostrich.
