The Okavango Delta  in Botswana is a swampy inland delta formed where the Okavango River reaches a tectonic trough in the central part of the endorheic basin of the Kalahari

The Okavango Delta is a vast inland river in northern Botswana, known for its sprawling grassy plains which flood seasonally, becoming a lush animal habitat.

When to visit

It is hot most of the year, particularly Oct–Dec. Some roads may become impassable in the wet season (Nov–Mar). The drier months (Jul–Oct) are a popular time to visit, when wildlife-viewing reaches a peak. The Delta’s unique seasonal flooding occurs Jun–Aug, during the dry season. May–Aug sees warm days with cool nights.
